Former Minnesota Vikings player hosts mental health event

Former Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie recently hosted an event focused on mental health, according to a report from the Vikings.

"Cocktails and Conversation" was hosted by Mr. McKinnie April 13 in Hollywood, Fla., with proceeds from the event going to his foundation B-Major. The foundation aims to enhance "the lives of youth and single parent homes by promoting fitness, healthy living and addressing mental health awareness and social needs," according to its website.

Panelists at the event included clinical psychologist LaTasha Russell Harris, PsyD; orthopedic surgeon Marvin Smith, MD; and former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who Mr. McKinnie said in the report was one of the first people he heard speak on mental health within the NFL.

Mr. McKinnie worked with the NFL Players Association and NFL Legends Community for ways to support his community's mental health needs, the report said.
