The digital “Understanding Mental Wellness” program will be accessible at more than 850 middle and high schools in 240 counties, many of which are in rural areas considered to be the most in need of mental health resources, according to an Oct. 20 news release from Amerigroup.
The courses are designed to educate students on mental health coping strategies, awareness and acceptance to reduce the stigma around mental health issues, and they are available in English and Spanish.
“With the help of Everfi, we plan to reach thousands of students in areas of Texas that face harsh disparities, and we believe that we will be successful in making a positive, meaningful difference in lives and futures,” Greg Thompson, president of Amerigroup Texas, said in the release.
