Nashville, Tenn.-based Centerstone had 28 federal grants cut without warning Jan. 13, but HHS restored funding less than 24 hours later.
The organization said it received word overnight that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration had pulled $14.3 million in grants from Centerstone programs across Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Florida and North Carolina. The cuts were effective immediately, according to a Jan. 15 news release from Centerstone.
SAMHSA reversed the decision the following morning, informing Centerstone team members of the reinstatement on Jan. 15.
Centerstone CEO David Guth Jr., said in the release the funding will support treatment and care for thousands of patients.
