Eighty-six percent of Americans want their elected officials in Congress to take more steps to address the country's mental health crisis, according to a recent survey from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
The survey, conducted by Ipsos between Oct. 27 and 29, polled 2,048 adults 18 or older across the country, with only 7% saying that Congress is taking the right amount of action to address mental health.
The survey found that 64% of adults said federal funding for mental healthcare should be a high or the highest priority, while 57% said federal funding for the nationwide 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline should be a high or the highest priority.
