King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services and Grand Forks, N.D.-based Altru Health have broken ground on an expanded behavioral health unit.
The project will increase capacity at Altru Behavioral Health Center’s inpatient unit from 24 to 48 beds, according to a June 17 news release. Altru received $13 million in state funding to support the expansion.
The expanded inpatient unit is expected to be completed in 2026.
UHS has joint venture projects with several other health systems. In 2025, UHS plans to open joint facilities with Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health and Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network.
