The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has finalized its purchase of a facility in Oklahoma City.
The site, previously owned by St. Louis-based SSM Health, will be renamed the Oklahoma City Behavioral Health Campus and is intended to expand inpatient treatment capacity statewide, the agency said in a Feb. 11 news release. Renovations of the annex are underway and will add 32 inpatient beds. The work is expected to be completed by March.
Once renovations are finished, patients from Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Okla., will transition to the facility. Additional renovation phases will continue throughout 2026 in the main hospital building, with services shifting once upgrades are completed.
The department invested $60 million into the project — $18.5 million for the property and $41.5 million for upgrades and renovations.
