Construction has begun on the $121 million Lubbock (Texas) Psychiatric Center.
The 50-bed, maximum security center is one of several new hospitals part of a $2.5 billion effort to transform Texas’ mental healthcare system, according to a July 29 news release from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission — which will operate the facility — aims to deliver high-quality treatment that integrates modern mental health treatment for patient healing and recovery.
The facility is expected to be completed in 2027.
