St. Paul, Minn.-based Partners Behavioral Healthcare has acquired four locations from Minneapolis-based Nuway, The Post Bulletin reported March 12.

Parenters Behavioral took over operations of Nuway’s intensive outpatient treatment centers in Rochester, Duluth, Mankato and St. Cloud, Minn., on March 10, a Nuway spokesperson told the news outlet.

The acquisition comes after Nuway filed notice indicating it would lay off more than 170 staff members, according to the Post Bulletin. In February, a Minnesota judge ruled the state could withhold Medicaid reimbursements from Nuway amid a federal investigation into its billing practices.

Some Nuway staff were given the option to transfer their employment from Nuway to Partners Behavioral, a spokesperson told the Post Bulletin.

Partners Behavioral provides mental health and substance-use treatment services at five locations in Minnesota.
