Dayton Children’s Hospital has completed its $108 million Mathile Center for Mental Health and Wellness, which is scheduled to open on July 15.
“Mental health is the defining crisis of our children’s generation and therefore, one of our strategic priorities,” Dayton Children’s President and CEO Debbie Feldman said in a June 9 news release. “The Mathile Center serves as the centerpiece of a full spectrum of services Dayton Children’s provides for the community, from therapists in schools to community health workers, to the new and expanded mental health outpatient care center in Miamisburg. It anchors a strong alignment with our community-based providers, as no one organization can do it alone.”
The new center consolidates and expands pediatric crisis mental health services currently at the hospital under one roof, with the inpatient unit doubling in size to 48 beds.
The facility provides private bedrooms with bathrooms and media boards, offering children access to three outdoor spaces and therapy options that include yoga, dance, art and music activities. The Bridge Clinic will help children and teens in crisis by connecting them to a mental health professional immediately before they can be connected with a long-term therapist.
The Day Treatment program will offer two programs: partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care, designed for children who have already had an inpatient stay and need ongoing support at home.
