California puts $37M into suicide hotline management

The state of California inked a $37 million contract with Next Generation Advanced, a emergency communications management company, to run its Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Crisis Lifeline network.

Crisis centers will use the company's technology, which facilitates faster and more accurate connections in heavily populated areas, according to a Jan. 31 news release from NGA. Counselors will be able to answer calls and text messages, use callback features and transfer services.
