IU receives $8.6M grant to study alcohol use

Indianapolis-based Indiana University researchers have been gifted $8.6 million by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to research heavy alcohol use and binge drinking, WBIW reported April 10.

The funds will support research for another five years. This marks the school's eighth consecutive funding cycle.

Researchers will focus on the behavioral and neurological risks associated with alcohol misuse, including predispositions to drinking and rates of alcohol intake.
