Sheridan (Wyo.) Memorial Hospital has been awarded $5.9 million on behalf of the state's loan and investment board to build an emergency psychiatric assessment, treatment, healing and crisis stabilization unit, the Sheridan Press reported Nov. 22.

Officials in a Nebraska county are investing $55 million into building a mental health facility to serve the Douglas County area, NBC affiliate WOWT reported Nov. 21. 

Licensed clinical social workers, often referred to as therapists, make up 36 percent of the country's mental health workforce, according to data from the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
