Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia named Eric Morrow, MD, PhD, founding director of the Lurie Autism Institute.

Dr. Morrow will assume the role Sept. 1, according to an April 29 news release from CHOP. He will also join the departments of pediatrics and genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The institute was launched in 2025 through a $50 million gift from the Jeffrey Lurie Family Foundation and the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation. The organizations said it is the largest single donation to a U.S. academic medical center focused on autism research across the lifespan.

The Lurie Autism Institute will serve as a hub for autism spectrum disorder research, clinical care and collaboration, with headquarters and research laboratories on Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s campus, according to the release.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
