New York City-based NYU Langone Health selected William Gordon Frankle, MD, to lead the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He will take over as chair in September.
Dr. Frankle most recently held three roles at NYU Langone: vice chair of the department, chief of psychiatry services at NYU Langone Hospital — Brooklyn, and professor of psychiatry, according to a Sept. 1 news release from the system.
During his time leading psychiatry services at NYU Langone Hospital — Brooklyn, Dr. Frankle oversaw the service’s integration into the Department of Psychiatry. The behavioral health program at the NYU Langone’s Family Health Centers has grown into one of the largest in New York State under his leadership, with approximately 165,000 patient visits annually.
He succeeds Charles Marmar, MD, who completed 17 years as chair. Dr. Marmar will continue his research as director of the Center for Precision Psychiatry.
