Chicago-based Array Behavioral Care, a virtual behavioral health provider, has launched Array OnDemand+, an acute behavioral health model.

The model aims to support emergency departments, inpatient units and crisis stabilization spaces by pairing independently licensed, master’s-level clinicians with board-certified psychiatrists, according to a Sept. 11 news release. Clinicians conduct assessments, safety planning and discharge coordination, while psychiatrists focus on higher-acuity and medically complex cases.

Array said the team-based approach aims to help accelerate care, shorten lengths of stay and reduce unnecessary admissions. For hospitals, the model is designed to ease boarding times, match patients with the appropriate level of care and preserve psychiatric resources for patients with the highest needs, according to the release.
