Tampa, Fla.-based nonprofit Gracepoint began development of a $16 million behavioral health hospital that will be staffed exclusively by women, the Tampa Bay Times reported Aug. 27.

The Mariposa Women’s Hospital, to be located on Gracepoint’s Tampa campus, will offer treatment to female patients for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, among other conditions, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Gracepoint broke ground on the 32-bed facility in June.

“I have always believed we needed a safe place for women where they will feel seen, their voices heard and receive the care they need,” Gracepoint CEO Roaya Tyson told the publication. “It’s the variety of treatments and the multifaceted approach that differentiates Mariposa Women’s from general psychiatric care.”

The facility is slated to begin treating patients in summer 2025.
