UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has plans for a $10 million expansion of pediatric behavioral health and subspecialty services at its Children’s South campus, NPR affiliate WESA reported Aug. 20.

The expansion will add services to a previously unused fourth floor of the building, with the renovation expected to finish by mid-2027. Plans include nine treatment rooms, consulting areas, observation rooms, a creative arts therapy center and a parent-child interaction therapy room.

The expansion will also offer developmental testing and support for children on the autism spectrum, services previously only available at Lawrenceville-based UPMC Children’s Hospital.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
