National Alliance on Mental Illness names chief medical officer

The National Alliance on Mental Illness named Christine Crawford, MD, chief medical officer. 

Dr. Crawford first joined NAMI as associate medical director in 2020, according to an Aug. 17 news release from the organization. 

In her new role, Dr. Crawford will provide strategic leadership on NAMI’s medical, scientific and public education initiatives. She will also help advance its mental health education, advocacy, research and access to care. 

Dr. Crawford continues to serve as an assistant professor of psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and care for patients through her private practice in Boston.
