Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation has received nearly $150,000 from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to support new technology at Hackensack Meridian K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in Neptune, N.J.
The funding will support the installation of five interactive media walls in the Pediatric Emergency Department’s Behavioral Health Unit, according to a June 22 news release.
The wall-mounted digital screens are designed to provide therapeutic engagement and help de-escalate stress for children and teens receiving behavioral healthcare.
The technology is expected to benefit an estimated 2,500 young patients annually. Patients will be able to access games, music, drawing tools and videos. The touchscreens will also support secure video communication with care teams and family members.
The media walls will be incorporated into a planned redesign of the Pediatric Behavioral Health Unit, which is slated to begin construction in summer 2026.
