Tulsa-based CREOKS Health Services has been selected to guide the completion and operation of Oklahoma County’s Behavioral Care Center, which is under construction at the site of a new county jail, The Oklahoman reported Dec. 8.

The facility is part of a hybrid jail model that will consolidate booking, diversion and behavioral health services at the new Grand Boulevard site, while detainee housing will remain at the old downtown jail location. Full relocation of jail operations would require an additional $635 million in funding, potentially from a future county sales tax, according to the report.

An evaluation committee appointed by commissioners reviewed three proposals for the contract, with CREOKS receiving unanimous support from all five members. Contract terms are still being negotiated.
