Florida behavioral health pavilion lands $2M donation

Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Healthcare Foundation received a $2 million donation to support geriatric services at the Cornell Family Behavioral Health Pavilion on the hospital's Sarasota campus, Sarasota magazine SRQ reported May 25.

The new $71 million pavilion is replacing the hospital's current behavioral health facility. The new facility will enhance, expand and centralize care for people affected by mental and behavioral health challenges, and is set to open in 2023.

Barbara and Gary Rodkin, the donors, chose to provide the $2 million gift in memoriam of Mr. Rodkin's father, who had difficulty securing quality mental and physical health treatment in his 90s.

"There was no coordinated care and it really pointed out how much improvement the whole geriatric system needed," Mr. Rodkin told SRQ.
