Cigna Healthcare will manage a new behavioral health network for eligible current and former National Football League (NFL) players and their eligible dependents beginning Sept. 1.
The NFL and NFL Players Association (NFLPA) created the Behavioral Health Network as an enhancement to the NFL Player Insurance Plan, according to an Aug. 26 news release from NFLPA. Cigna will administer the network, which will provide access to behavioral health providers nationwide and care navigation services.
The network will have providers in every NFL market. A dedicated Behavioral Health Navigation Team will help participants find providers, check appointment availability and answer benefit questions.
Behavioral Health Network outpatient services are covered at 100%, with no participant coinsurance and no visit limits.
The program adds to existing behavioral health coverage through the NFL Player Insurance Plan. Participants can also continue receiving care from providers outside the network.
