Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health will close its Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Children’s Psychiatry Clinic-Amherst Satellite location and relocate its pediatric ENT clinic at the McKinley Pediatric Outpatient Center in Blasdell, N.Y., pending approval from the New York State Department of Health.
Services provided at Kaleida’s Amherst location will be consolidated into the system’s Children’s Psychiatry Clinic in Buffalo. The consolidation will allow for new programs to open that are not currently offered in Western New York, such as a pediatric partial hospitalization program, according to a Kaleida Health news release shared with Becker’s.
Kaleida expects minimal disruption for patients at the Amherst location, as many services are provided via telemedicine.
The Amherst location will remain open throughout the closure process, and its employees and therapists will relocate to the Children’s Psychiatry Clinic. Patients who want to see their existing therapist will not need to take action and telemedicine will remain in place after the transition.
“Patient care and access remain our highest priorities as we work to ensure the Amherst outpatient clinic remains open to provide patient care throughout the closure process,” the release said. “Kaleida Health will work closely with patients, families and community partners to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of high-quality care.”
Kaleida also plans to relocate its pediatric ENT clinic. Pediatric ENT services will remain available at the Golisano Children’s Buffalo Outpatient Center in Buffalo. A new Southtowns pediatric outpatient location in Hamburg, N.Y., is also in the works and anticipated to open in 2027.
