Olympia-based Washington State Health Care Authority and Washington State Department of Health have released a new resource library to help clinicians and emergency responders prescribe and administer medications for opioid use disorder.

The virtual toolkit comprises videos, printable guides, testimonials from clinicians and conversation prompts to support the use of medication such as buprenorphine and methadone, according to a Dec. 16 news release.

The materials were designed to reduce stigma, build provider confidence and integrate medication for opioid use disorder into routine, life-saving care.

This initiative follows the 2023 removal of the federal X-waiver, which had previously restricted the prescription of medication for opioid use disorder.
Materials are available here.
