Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center has created a department of social work to enhance training and career advancement opportunities for those in the profession.
The department will provide career development pathways, educational opportunities and professional support for social workers across Dartmouth Health. It will also support broader efforts to improve care coordination and strengthen integration across the system, leaders said in a March 11 news release.
“Social workers play a critical role in patient care, access and transitions across settings,” Joanne Conroy, MD, Dartmouth Health CEO and president, said in a news release. “Their work spans areas from care management to mental health, pediatrics and other clinical settings.”
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
