$4M launches Arise, a company that will treat eating disorders virtually

Arise, a mental healthcare company aiming to provide comprehensive virtual care for eating disorders, launched July 11 after raising over $4 million in a seed-funding round.

Arise will provide treatments for various types of eating disorders, including binge eating, bulimia, anorexia, rumination disorder, avoidant or restrictive food intake disorder and other conditions.

"Eating disorders are complex, and they look different for everyone. They're rarely about just food or body image alone, but also deeply connected to psychosocial factors, social determinants of health and past experiences and traumas. Today's systems of care are not set up to address all of this together," Amanda D'Ambra, Arise co-founder and CEO, said in a July 11 news release from the company.

The company will use a comprehensive care model designed to tackle past and current life circumstances and underlying conditions that can contribute to eating disorders, including trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and addiction.
