Federal health officials faced a Jan. 31 deadline to terminate any programs promoting “gender ideology,” according to the Times, including any public media that might promote them.
The annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey is conducted by the CDC. The survey measures mental health and substance use among high school students.
Here are three things to know:
- The Youth Risk Behavior Survey measures rates of depression, suicidal thoughts and substance use among LGBTQ+ students. The 2023 survey found LGBTQ+ students were more likely to report feelings of sadness or hopelessness than cisgender and heterosexual students.
- Other information removed from CDC websites include those on gender-based violence and supporting LGBTQ+ youth. The CDC also removed an HIV risk reduction tool and consolidated information about the virus into one webpage.
- Some resources could be republished after language reviews and edits, according to ABC News.
