Marshfield Clinic, part of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health, has awarded 60 grants to fund youth behavioral health programs at school districts and community organizations.

The grants support two programs. Thirty-three went to schools for b.e.s.t. Universal Screening, an online tool that helps educators identify students who might need behavioral health support. Twenty-seven funded Life Tools, an early-intervention program that teaches students coping and social-emotional skills through structured group sessions.

This is the 12th year Marshfield Clinic has offered b.e.s.t. grants and the seventh for Life Tools. Since their respective launches, b.e.s.t. has reached more than 600,000 completed screeners across 89 school districts, and Life Tools has served more than 1,000 students across more than 50 districts, according to a June 10 news release.

“Now more than ever, children and youth need strong support systems,” Jay Shrader, senior director of community relations at Sanford Health, said in the release. “Families and schools need these programs to help bridge gaps in care so young people can stay healthy, connected and ready to learn.”

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
