According to an Oct. 30 news release from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, the state has made available all of the funding it received in the first year of the settlement agreements.
“New York is not only leading the way in the efforts to hold opioid manufacturers and distributors accountable, we are taking swift action to put settlement dollars to work to reverse the harm they have caused,” Ms. Hochul said.
Some of the settlement money is disbursed directly to local governments. Other initiatives the funding supports include:
- Scholarships for individuals looking to train in addiction services
- Establishing comprehensive integrated outpatient treatment programs
- Buprenorphine services
- Funding for recovery centers
