The Chicago Department of Public Health, alongside Mayor Lori Lightfoot, has expanded the city's mental health network to all 77 neighborhoods.
The administration has provided funding for mental health services at 177 clinics across the city and 80 shelters to aid the homeless, according to a Feb. 9 announcement on the mayor's website sharing the ways the city has increased access to mental health services since the start of the pandemic.
The Trauma-Informed Centers of Care network has grown from 50 staff members in 2019 to 100 in 2023.
The city has also increased its budget for mental health, allocating $89 million this year toward services, up from $12 million in 2019.
CDPH is also partnering with Chicago Public Libraries, which will allow mental health professionals to provide care at libraries in Chicago.
