Youth mental health facility to open in Tennessee

Mountain Youth Academy is opening a new youth mental health facility in Mountain City, Tenn., CBS and ABC affiliate WJHL reported Jan. 10.

The new building doubled the facility’s capacity to 120 beds for patients ages 5 to 17 experiencing mental health challenges as a result of trauma. The $30 million project also added 50 jobs to the community, the report said.

The new facility was built in front of the academy’s old building and patients are expected to move into the building in the next week.
