“Mental health is a critical component of any individual’s overall health and wellbeing, and currently our nation is facing an ongoing shortage of psychiatrists,” Arya Soman, MD, who will serve as director of the program, said in a June 3 news release from the health system. “Our psychiatry residency program is here to help meet that need.”
The four-year program will include six residents per year, primarily at WellSpan York Hospital, according to the health system. It expects to welcome its first residents in July 2025.
