This is the second inpatient expansion at the facility since 2019, bringing the unit up to 140 beds. The health system predicts it will be able to serve 100 additional patients per year.

The expansion is also expected to help with the facility’s waitlist, which is currently over 1,000 patients, according to the publication.

In January, WellSpan announced its plans to add 200 employees to its system, 50 of whom will be allocated for the Philhaven location and the expanded unit in Mt. Gretna.
