Washington state includes $464M for mental health in 2024 budget

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has announced his proposed $70.9 billion budget for 2024, which includes $464 million for behavioral health.

The funds designated for behavioral health would focus on addressing issues such as homelessness and the opioid crisis across the state, according to a Dec. 13 report from the governor's office.

The proposed budget would allocate $64 million for the state's fentanyl and opioid response and fund 110 new beds at state-run facilities, including the recently reopened Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health facility in Tukwila.
