Washington state hires 200 to staff new behavioral health facility

Washington state has hired more than 200 staff members to operate a behavioral health hospital in Tukwila, The Columbian reported Nov. 24.

The state purchased Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital, which closed in at the end of July, for nearly $30 million in August. The 137-bed psychiatric facility was previously owned by Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Nov. 21 for the newly-named Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health Hospital, which is expected to add 100 new beds for behavioral health patients committed to state hospitals, the report said.
