Washington sheriff’s office awarded $1M to support behavioral health unit

The Washington Association of Sheriffs a​​nd Police awarded $1,005,423 to the Chelan County sheriff’s office in Wenatchee, Wash., to support its behavioral health unit, NBC affiliate KHQ reported Sept. 16.

The Chelan County sheriff’s office will partner with other local law enforcement agencies to help establish mental health field response capabilities and support mental health professionals on the unit who will respond to emergencies involving people experiencing a mental health crisis, the report said.
