UnitedHealth, Active Minds form $3M partnership to combat youth mental health crisis

UnitedHealth Group's philanthropic foundation put $3 million into a three-year partnership with Active Minds to promote mental health awareness and education among young adults.

The United Health Foundation and Active Minds plan to use the funding to create mental health programs in 50 middle schools in Minnesota, North Carolina and Florida, according to an Oct. 12 news release from UnitedHealth.

"Our young people are the future of healthy, strong communities," Rhonda Randall, DO, chief medical officer of UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual, said in the release. "We look forward to helping youth gain skills to help counter the alarming increases we are seeing in youth mental health."
