The 54-bed facility will provide acute hospital care for children and teens in psychiatric crisis and was built as a partnership between UNC Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, according to a Nov. 7 news release.
The facility will employ more than 200 care teammates from Chapel Hill-based UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine, including psychiatrists, pediatricians, and art and occupational therapists who will begin caring for patients at the end of the month.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
