U of North Carolina opens 54-bed youth behavioral health hospital

The University of North Carolina has opened UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health in Butner, N.C.

The 54-bed facility will provide acute hospital care for children and teens in psychiatric crisis and was built as a partnership between UNC Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, according to a Nov. 7 news release. 

The facility will employ more than 200 care teammates from Chapel Hill-based UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine, including psychiatrists, pediatricians, and art and occupational therapists who will begin caring for patients at the end of the month.
