Tufts Medicine, Acadia Healthcare to open 144-bed behavioral health hospital

Malden, Mass.-based Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 6 to mark the upcoming opening of a 144-bed behavioral health hospital. 

The hospital will be operated through a joint venture between Burlington, Mass.-based Tufts Medicine and Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare, according to a Feb. 6 Tufts news release shared with Becker’s. The organizations said the hospital anticipates opening by the end of the first quarter, pending completion of final preparations. 

Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital will offer inpatient and intensive outpatient programs for children, adolescents, adults and older adults. The hospital will also serve as a clinical teaching site in partnership with Tufts University School of Medicine. 

The facility will expand on behavioral health services previously provided by MelroseWakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital, consolidating services and additional capacity on a single campus, the release said.
