The “Medscape Psychiatrist Compensation Report” for 2024 polled 7,000 physicians across more than 29 specialties regarding their compensation and thoughts on their roles from Oct. 2 to Jan. 16. Six percent of respondents were psychiatrists.
Here are the most frequent responses from psychiatrists when asked what part of their jobs they find most challenging, starting with the most common response:
- Dealing with difficult patients: 27%
- Having so many rules and regulations: 22%
- Working with an EHR system: 13%
- Having to work long hours: 12%
- Dealing with Medicare and/or other insurers and getting fair reimbursement: 8%
- Worrying about being sued: 5%
- Danger/risk associated with treating COVID-19 patients: 1%
- Other: 10%
- Nothing: 3%
