The money will allow UTPB to cover tuition and mandatory fees for graduate students who live within the 22 counties in Texas and New Mexico that make up the Permian Basin, according to a July 19 news release from the university. These students will pursue graduate degrees in clinical psychology, social work, counseling or school counseling.
The first group of recipients will benefit from the grants beginning in the fall, with awards being renewable for up to three years.
