The 100-bed facility will break ground Nov. 12 and is expected to open in summer 2026. The project received financial support from the Texas Legislature’s $2.1 billion added funding for mental health services, and the city of Pharr provided land for the hospital.

The hospital will be co-located with DHR Health’s existing behavioral health services and will be the first hospital in the city, according to a Nov. 4 news release from the system.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
