Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington (Texas) will receive a $30 million grant to provide competency restoration services, Fort Worth Report reported July 2.
Incarcerated individuals in need of mental healthcare face long waitlists in Texas, according to My Health My Resources of Tarrant County, the local mental health authority in Fort Worth. The organization will provide the state funding to Perimeter.
Increasing the number of state beds available for treatment is not possible, Susan Garnett, CEO of MHMR Tarrant County, told Forth Worth Report. Contracting with local hospitals provides an alternative to increase capacity, she said.
Alpharetta, Ga.-based Perimeter Healthcare operates 10 inpatient behavioral health facilities.
