Texas behavioral health center gets $8M for crisis center

Galveston County in Texas approved $8 million for the Gulf Coast Center to build a mental health crisis center in La Marque, according to a July 31 report from ABC affiliate Click 2 Houston.

The center will comprise 20 beds: 10 extended observation unit beds for adults battling mental health crises for up to 72 hours, and 10 designated for respite care.

The crisis center is set to open in 2024, according to the report.
