San Francisco’s public health department has partnered with Pleasant Hill. Calif.-based Crestwood Behavioral Health to open a stabilization center, CBS News reported April 24.
The $6.7 million center will be staffed 24/7 by physicians, nurses and behavioral health specialists. First patients will be admitted April 28.
The facility is designed for homeless patients who are experiencing a mental crisis and need immediate treatment. Once they are stabilized, they can be connected to other services and shelters.
