San Diego County has opened a new crisis stabilization unit in El Cajon, Calif., marking the first such facility in East County.
The 14,000-square-foot behavioral health treatment facility will provide 24/7 support for individuals experiencing psychiatric or substance use emergencies, according to an April 17 news release from the county. Patients can stay for up to 24 hours while receiving care and being connected to ongoing treatment services.
The $28 million facility, built on county-owned property, is the eighth crisis stabilization unit in the region.
