Psychiatry was the 2nd most in-demand specialty in 2022: Report

Psychiatrists were the second most recruited specialty in 2022, according to a new report from Doximity. Child and adolescent psychiatrists also ranked in the top half of the list.

The medical professional networking platform released its “2023 Physician Compensation Report,” tracking trends in physician pay, job satisfaction and more nationwide. 

Doximity used data from its platform to indicate which specialty physicians saw the most demand and recruitment efforts in 2022.

Here were the 10 most-recruited specialties in 2022:

  1. Family medicine
  2. Psychiatry
  3. Internal medicine
  4. Emergency medicine
  5. Child and adolescent psychiatry
  6. Obstetrics and gynecology
  7. Anesthesiology
  8. Urgent care
  9. Geriatric medicine
  10. Hematology/oncology
