The average annual salary of psychiatrists in the U.S. is $256,930. However, that figure can vary by up to $206,110 depending on the state one practices in, according to data from the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics employment survey.

Psychiatrists in Connecticut earn an average of $338,620, making it the highest-paying state for the profession. Meanwhile, in West Virginia, the lowest-paying state, they earn an average of $132,510.
