State surveyors reportedly arrived to investigate Jan. 8, and were informed by facility officials that adolescent admissions were suspended.
“As the investigation is ongoing, the state is unable to share more,” a spokesperson with North Carolina’s health department told NBC affiliate WRAL.
In a statement to the news outlet, the facility’s CEO, Leigh Holston, confirmed the suspension, emphasizing that the decision was voluntary.
“The state did not stop admissions,” Ms. Holston said in the statement.
Holy Hill provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and addictive disease services to patients of all ages. Admissions for adult patients have not been paused, though internal emails obtained by WRAL indicate the hospital plans to reduce the number of adult admissions.
